Cold Heading Mold Description

The cold heading die is a key tool used in the cold heading process, which plastic deforms the metal material at room temperature by stamping, extrusion, etc., to form the desired shape and size. The design of cold heading die needs to take into account the strength, hardness, tolerance, toughness of the material as well as the geometric shape and dimensional accuracy requirements of the machined parts.

Mold structure:

Punches: 

Designed to match the shape of the part with a pointed front end or with appropriate rounded corners to reduce material flow resistance. The punch is precisely machined to ensure its dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Die: 

In combination with the punch to form the final shape of the part. The inner wall of the die is mirror-polished to reduce friction and metal adhesion.

Guide device: 

including a guide sleeve and a guide post to ensure that the punch and the die are correctly aligned during the stamping process to prevent the die from skewing or damage.

Discharge device: 

a reasonably designed discharge plate or spring for ejecting parts from the die after stamping to facilitate continuous production.
