Features of silver tungsten alloy

Silver-tungsten alloy combines the advantages of silver and tungsten, such as high melting point, high specific gravity, easy cutting, high conductivity, wear resistance, loss resistance, welding resistance, oxidation resistance, etc. It can make electrodes with high finish that are difficult to be processed by general processing equipment and tools; The silver tungsten electrode can achieve a better finish than the ordinary electrode, so that the mold can achieve very high accuracy.


Silver tungsten is characterized by its high strength and resistance to welding, they are mainly composed of penetration and nominal silver content from 20-50%. As the amount of tungsten increases, its hardness and welding ability decrease. Whether liquid or solid, silver and tungsten are not miscible. The material is characterized by high hardness, resistance to arc erosion, resistance to adhesion, and resistance to welding.

Silver and tungsten are not miscible in either liquid or solid state. The preparation of silver-tungsten alloy can only be made into sintered materials by powder metallurgy, or by extrusion. The material is characterized by high hardness and strong ability to resist arc erosion, adhesion and fusion welding. Manufactured by powder metallurgy. Alloys greater than 60% tungsten are mostly produced by immersion method. Used as low-voltage power switch, reuse switch, locomotive switch, high-current switch pre-contact, and heavy load relay, air circuit breaker, etc. Adding cobalt can improve the wettability of silver to tungsten and reduce the contact resistance.
