In high-pressure environments such as oil drilling, chemical reactors, and high-pressure hydraulic systems, valve reliability is directly related to production safety and efficiency. The valve seat is a core component that directly impacts equipment operational safety and service life.

In high-pressure systems, fluids (especially those containing solid particles, such as mud and slurry) often flow at extremely high velocities, placing stringent demands on the wear resistance of the valve seat surface. Tungsten carbide valve seats can achieve a hardness of HRA 85-93 (equivalent to HRC 65-80 on the Rockwell scale), far exceeding that of ordinary metals. This exceptionally high hardness effectively resists particle wear, adhesive wear, and erosion wear.

In environments subject to severe acid and alkali corrosion, such as chemical processing or offshore oil and gas extraction, tungsten carbide effectively resists corrosion from various chemical media, ensuring long-term, stable operation of the valve seat and improving overall equipment reliability. While cobalt (Co) binder tungsten carbide alloys may corrode in highly oxidizing environments, their corrosion resistance can be further enhanced by adjusting their composition (such as by adding chromium or nickel) or applying surface coatings, making them adaptable to a variety of complex chemical environments.

High-pressure environments are often accompanied by high-temperature operating conditions. Tungsten carbide maintains its strength and hardness at high temperatures and resists deformation. Its melting point is as high as 2870°C, and it is not easily oxidized at high temperatures. Below 500°C, its hardness and strength barely degrade. This maintains its sealing performance, making it particularly suitable for media such as hot steam and high-temperature gases.

Although the initial cost of tungsten carbide valve seats is higher than that of metal or ordinary ceramic valve seats, their overall cost-effectiveness is outstanding in the long run. If you're looking for a suitable valve seat for high-pressure equipment, consider tungsten carbide valve seats; they may offer unexpected convenience and benefits.
