How to polish tungsten carbide plate

Polishing tungsten carbide plate needs to ensure that the tungsten carbide plate achieves the desired finish and quality by choosing appropriate polishing tools, controlling the polishing time and speed, and paying attention to safety.

Preparation of tools and protection

First, make sure the surface of the tungsten carbide plate is clean and free of grease, dust or other impurities. It can be cleaned with appropriate cleaners and a soft cloth. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles and mask to prevent personal injury from dust and debris generated during the polishing process.

Coarse Grain Abrasive Polishing

According to the hardness of the tungsten carbide plate and the required finish, choose the appropriate grinding tool, such as diamond grinding head or suitable sandpaper.

Preliminary grinding of the tungsten carbide plate using the grinding tool to remove surface unevenness and oxidized layer. This stage may require the use of abrasive materials of different grain sizes, progressively from coarse to fine.

Medium Grit Abrasive Polishing

As the grinding progresses, gradually change to a finer abrasive material such as medium grit sandpaper or abrasive paste. Continue to grind the tungsten carbide sheet with the new abrasive material until the surface is smoother.

Fine Grain Abrasive Polishing

Apply an appropriate amount of polishing powder to the polishing machine and place the tungsten carbide plate on the polishing pad. Start the polisher and rotate the tungsten carbide plate on the polishing pad while applying the right amount of pressure. During the polishing process, it is necessary to constantly observe the surface condition of the tungsten carbide sheetand adjust the rotational speed and pressure of the polishing machine as needed.
